Trip to Baguio (repost)
Went to Baguio last Feb 17 - 20. It's been awhile since I last went to Baguio. Years. So it was really a surprise when we (Darwin & I) went there - so many people, so many vendors on the sidewalks, so many ukay-ukays and tiangges. It was a contradiction for me - so many things to buy, so little money to spend. Hehehe :)
After hours of searching Baguio for a place to stay, we decided to stay at the Venus Parkview Hotel. The place is pretty decent and it had a room with balcony and water heater available.
Dar & I visited the usual tourist attractions: Burnham park, Camp John Hay, Mines View park, and the Philippine Military Academy. We also went to the Bell Church (something new for both of us) and Woodcarvers village (where you can get bulol woodcarvings at half the price they're selling in the city).

At night we would walk along Session road and buy jackets, knitted things and nicknacks of sorts. You can't seem to stop shopping because almost everything is so cheap. And I can't seem to get enough knitted scarves. I bought 3. I know, where would I use them in the Philippines? But I would be going to New Zealand soon.
What struck me most in our trip to Baguio was our visit at the Bell Tower. You do a ritual (incense thing, pick a stick, throw 2 stones), ask your question, then the monk will give you a piece of paper with Chinese writing and advise you with regards to your question. What he told me was something about my mom, but my question didn't concern my mom. It surprised me that the monk would say that my luck is with my mother and I should listen to her. Since a lot of things happened between me and my mom over the last few years, what the monk said really got into me. I left the temple still thinking about what the monk said. But I guess if you see my question in a different perspective, well maybe it does concern my mom.
